R.I.P - The Tragic Death of Romance

He told me that I was too busy living in my own fantasy world. It’s sad, but he was right. What makes it worse is that my fantasy was once a reality: men who were men yet sensitive enough to their woman’s needs, men who were so secure yet romantic they took time to write thoughtful and meaningful poems and love letters, men who were confident enough in themselves to show a woman the respect she deserves by courting her and giving her a permanent role in his life. Ah yes, the good old day of real romance.

Rest in Peace

Now being a woman, it’s easy to blame the fellas for the current state of emergency that love, relationships, and romance is in. After all, they are the ones who want bad bitches instead of one queen, a big booty hoe instead of a woman with goals, and multiple side pieces instead of being loyal enough to the woman loving them, but we are JUST as much to blame as they are.
Since when did we make it OK for text messages, DM’s, retweets, and subtle status updates our primary source of communication? Why is Facetiming equivalent to a good old fashioned date? Why do we continue to fight for spots in men’s world to the point that we are willing to compete, hate, and retaliate against other women who are foolish enough to be caught up in the same cycle that we are?

We have GOT to do better.

Fellas take her out. And ladies, hold him to the standard that you would want in your son-in-law so even if you two don’t work out he knows what he needs to do with the woman that’s going to follow you. If we all made them respect us, romance us, and court us, then they would have no choice but to get it together.

Moral of the Story: In today’s vocabulary: Do ya’ll want that real, genuine gentleman who is going to treat you like the Queen you are or nah?
